Frequently Asked Questions

Surface Insect Control

Surface Insects such as Chinch Bugs and Sod Webworms live in the hottest part of your lawn in the thatch. Chinch bugs are nearly black with a white spot between the wings. Sod Webworms can be found feeding on the underside of leaves in their larvae state. This is when they cause the most damage to your lawn. You may notice birds digging in your lawn looking for these insects for dinner. Adult Sod Webworms, called lawn moths, are snort moths and can be seen flying over your lawn on warm balmy evenings.

Their damage is directly correlated with the heat and they cause damage by sucking the fluids from the grass plant. The damage is often seen as irregular, brown patches and is sometimes confused with drought damage or dog damage.

Surface Insect Control puts an end chinch bugs by getting rid of the problem through a contact application. On top of preventative insect control, keeping your lawn watered and fertilized is the best way to prevent such damage.
